Need some help to study abroad?
Act quickly; deadlines are fast approaching for some of these opportunities! 

There are many avenues to secure funds:
  1. There is funding available through the Purdue Office of Study Abroad. Check out the website for more information.
  2. Eligible students can apply for a grant from Learning Beyond the Classroom.
  3. The College of Science provides study abroad scholarships.
  4. The Office of Experiential Education offers a scholarship.

 Lancaster University is located on a campus overlooking the Irish Sea. Students have easy access by public bus to the city of Lancaster, located three miles north of campus. This modern campus is the center of learning for approximately 12,000 students, including 3,000 international students. The strong reputation of Lancaster is reflected by high rankings year-on-year in each of the UK's major university rankings. Lancaster's unique combination of city, coast & countryside adds a whole new dimension to the student experience – and while those studying at Lancaster have all the benefits of a campus 'village' at their disposal, there's so much more to explore and discover within the city and the local area! Lancaster University permits Purdue students to take a mix of courses from a number of different departments, provided that students have the appropriate qualifications. The school year follows the typical British pattern of three ten-week terms separated by four-week vacation periods. Most courses are taught continuously across two or three terms with a final exam or paper due at the end of the term.

Learn Beyond the Classroom
  • Use your LBC reports when preparing for interviews or writing applications for internships, jobs, and graduate and professional schools.
  • There are many activities that are eligible for LBC points.  Take a look at the tables that are on the CoS website (Click Here) to determine whether what you have done fits the criteria.
  • If you have submitted a report, check and see if you have been asked to supply more information.  if you find that you have received “0” points on a report, look at the feedback and you will see what questions you have been asked to answer.  Resubmit your report with the required information so that your LBC points can be updated.
  • If you wish to apply for an LBC grant to support an LBC activity, complete our electronic application form; click on Get Funding

    WISP Happenings
    Dr. Lisa Welp, Associate Professor in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, spoke to our cohort about Adopting a Sustainable Lifestyle. We were able to recognize the scientific importance of maintaining a sustainable lifestyle as well as how to integrate sustainability into our habits as college students.  Afterwards, we celebrated our final session together by creating a cohort canvas with all teams designing their own piece.  Thank you for a fantastic year everyone!  Keep up your mentor/mentee relationships!

    Undergrad Research Seminar Series
    Thursday, April 27 at 4:00 pm - Marketing your Undergraduate Research Experiences Conducting research and/or presenting your work develops many skills that you should market. You must highlight those skills, experiences, and results to leverage the hard work you have put into your project when applying for additional research projects, internships, graduate programs, and/or jobs. You will learn how to describe your work on projects on your resume/CV, in your interviews, and during networking events. Register for this workshop.

    Imagination Station Summer Job
    Imagination Station is a hands on science center located in downtown Lafayette serving children and young adults. We need people to work the front desk, manage admissions and the cash register, help with programs and activities like birthday parties and field trips, help with office work, be comfortable interacting with young children, help in cleaning up and tidying up the science center. 

    We are open 4 days a week Thursday and Friday 10 to 1,  Saturday from 10 to 3 and Sunday from 1 to 4. But we hope to  open more days and longer hours. Should be able to work at least 2-3 week days and most Saturdays or Sundays. Some flexibility possible due to academic schedule.  We want someone to join asap, more from May 1, be available during the summer and continue throughout the year.
    Looking for committed workers who enjoy working in a cool and fun environment. We are located in downtown Lafayette just across the river and are on the bus line from campus. 10-15 hours a week

    Temporary Seasonal Biological Science Technician (Fisheries) at Ludington Biological Stations
    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Marquette and Ludington Biological Stations are currently recruiting for several temporary seasonal Biological Science Technician positions. The positions are being recruited through USAJOBS at the GS-4 and GS-5 levels. The open period is from April 13 to 20, 2023.
